A Needless & Wasteful Requirement
A Needless and Wasteful Requirement is a comedic one-act play inspired by the playwright’s love of absurdist comedy (nerd!), fascination with copyright law (nerd!), and general distaste for bigotry (oh, pretty cool guy actually).
Come see two enthusiastic performers take on one of the classic works of the theater of the absurd, just as soon as their lawyer wraps things up with the playwright’s estate. They’re sure they’ll be legally allowed to perform any minute now, after all, the only thing standing in their way is decades of entrenched sexism. And if they haven’t secured the rights in time for curtain, well… surely they’ll think of something.

“A charming romp about gatekeeping, “A Needless and Wasteful Requirement” deliciously skewers the Beckett estate while creating something truly original and fun. Anchored by a trio of captivating, hilarious, and heartfelt performances, it’s one of most original Fringe pieces you’ll see.”
“The most delightful play about intellectual property rights I’ve ever seen! (seriously, though, I love that stuff and really enjoyed this play)”
“A play for anyone whose performed, produced, or loves theatre. Witty dialogue, tactful subject matter, and hilarious characters that is both a tribute and a moral compass to Beckett thought pieces. There is nothing to prevent me from recommending this show to anybody willing to listen. The small moments, and the big gave a treat for the theatre lover in me.”
